3' x 1.5' ; natural plant; Created by an artist from one of the indigenous cultures that live in Brazil. The deign had been stained or burned into the surface and then engraved to further define the images. Currently, close to 350,000 Indians live in Brazil, distributed over 562 indigenous territories. There are 206 societies (ethnic groups) who speak 170 different indigenous languages. The majority - 70% of the total - is concentrated on a part of the Legal Amazon that includes 6 states: Amazonas, Acre, Roraima, Rondonia, Mato Grosso do sul, and Para. Aside from these, we should also consider the existence of 40 isolated societies in the western Amazon. |
