Title	Pune 'the flirtatious girl' from 'Ha-hwea pyolshin-gut'; folk drama mask
Description	H: 8' W: 6' ; wood and cord; This mask is for Pune, a character in the play, 'Ha-hwea pyolshin-gut.' The play is a mask dance drama handed down since the middle of the 12th century by lower-class people in the Ha-hwea Maeul, Andong, a city in Korea. Pune appears in the 4th act consoling a boy's soul, when a disaster hits the village. She enters as a companion and entertainer for Yangban, the aristocrat and Sonbi, the scholar. She is described as a woman in a triangular relationship with Tangban and Sonbi. The expression on the mask represents her as a flirtatious woman. This play and the mask are unique to this village in Korea.
