Title	Lele cup Kongo snuff bottle.
Description	2 art originals :$bpottery, black ;$c13-15 cm. high in case 31 x 21 x 21 cm. +$e1 card. In the Kuba, Lele and Kongo societies of the Democratic Republic of the Congo decorative patterns are an important tradition. Intricate patterns are carved on both ceremonial and everyday objects such as cups and snuff bottles, and are also woven into fabrics. Among the Kuba, this cup is called a Pokoiyomasi cup and is not used for drinking but rather as a container for a red cosmetic powder from camwood. Such cups are also used for cosmetic oils. The Kongo snuff bottle also has an intricately carved pattern, showing once again how even everyday objects are decorated in this rich tradition.
